About me
As a child, I was always fascinated by the illustrations of Beatrix Potter and would spend hours studying her images - falling in love with every character. From a young age, I loved to draw what was around me; in particular, the sweet peas that my father grew every summer, studying the colour and form of every petal.
My love and passion for art continued to grow, and after leaving school I studied art at Cleveland College of Art and Design. Later, I went on to study costume design at Wimbledon College of Art. I loved being part of the theatre, reading scripts and studying each character in such detail to ensure their costumes reflected and really captured their character.
Now, my days are spent working in education – along with spending time in my studio writing and illustrating books for children. My work is very much inspired by where I live and my love of the North of England and its fascinating landscapes, whether it be the breath-taking views from the top of the Cleveland hills, or the magnificent coast line with its backdrop of the steel works and industry.
